The “Social Enterprise Program”, SEP, founded in 1996 and the “Environmental Action Program” called into being two years later by the non-governmental organization BADI in Macau especially address women from rural areas of the two poorest provinces in China: Gansu and Shaanxi.

"Social Enterprise Programs" (SEP)

The paramount goal of the “Social Enterprise Programs” is to create new institutions. These should contribute to the improvement of social and economic development. The SEP supports people and groups in their efforts to launch social projects in their villages. They also create the prerequisites for this.

Analysis of the circumstances

In workshops the needs and problems of the region are being analysed together. Afterwards the possibilities of accepting the challenges are being consulted about. Furthermore, women are being supported in their efforts to offer alphabetisation courses.

Questions concerning the solving of problems and the effective cooperation are being addressed. Administrative issues that are necessary for the running of social projects are being discussed as well. Additionally, scientific and technical skills are being taught and the access to technological know-how is being enabled.
